Tonight Gotham returns to FOX at 8/7c and the theme for the sophomore season is “Rise of the Villains”. Now it’s time to get a preview into the premiere and get a glimpse of the drama to come.
On May 4, 2015, Gotham season 1 came to close with “All Happy Families Are Alike”. In the underworld of crime, Carmine Falcone (John Doman) and Sal Maroni (David Zayas) are out of the picture, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) is missing and Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) proclaimed himself the King of Gotham. Now behind the shield, we see that James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) may have trusted Penguin one time too many and is having a crisis of faith, and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) is just the same hot mess we despise that we adore. Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) is transitioning into The Riddler. Many of us are still awaiting better from Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). However, what really has the hair on my arms standing at attention, is vigilante in training, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and super fine caretaker, Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) found the bat-cave within Wayne Manor.

Tonight, we venture back into the Gotham world with the second season premiere airing on FOX at 8/7c; this season has been titled “Rise of the Villians”. As we lost a few souls along the way in season 1, a new breed of characters will come out to play. First up, is Theo Galavan (James Frain) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), we meet them right off the bat in the season 2 premiere “Damned If You Do.” Old faces we saw before, will be become more prominent. For instance, Wayne Enterprises Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) will be back, let’s see if he will be more trouble versus friend for Bruce. Harvey Dent (Nicholas D’Agosto) is still working on Gotham’s good side as District Attorney, and Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) went from being Fish’s right-hand man to Penguin’s.
With the season 2 moniker of “Rise of the Villians” we know that more evil will come Gotham City’s way. I’m just waiting for all the trouble that Jerome Valeska aka The Joker (Cameron Monaghan) will cause. Who will Jerome team up with or who will he attempt to take down? Regardless, we are all in for a wild ride!
Tonight on Gotham: Season 2, Episode 1 “Damned If You Do”:
Penguin is King of Gotham and after a shakeup at the GCPD, Detective James Gordon’s moral compass wavers, as he seeks help from Penguin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne continues to explore the secrets from his father’s office, while GOTHAM newcomers Theo Galavan and his sister, Tabitha, make friends with some unlikely allies, a group of dangerous inmates from Arkham.
