Yesterday, Ryan Reynolds and Conan O’Brien shared the first official trailer for Deadpool on late-night show. Check out the RedBand and GreenBand versions + screenshots from the trailer.
Last night 20th Century Fox released the first official trailer for their upcoming Marvel action-adventure film Deadpool, and this definitely won’t be your average comic-hero adaptation!
Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool himself, debuted the trailer on CONAN, and in order to play the unedited version on-air, the show’s TBS rating for the night was TV-MA. (If you watched the episode, Conan O’Brien and company had A LOT of fun with that mature rating!) Welps, that NSFW rating is certainly earned. Deadpool/Wade Wilson is a badass mercenary leaving bloody bodies in his wake. But unlike the earlier, more serious, moments in the trailer, Reynolds brings so much sarcasm and raunchy humor to this very R-rated character. Plus, Wade has pretty great taste in music (Shoop is my JAM!) I’m laughing as I’m cringing and enjoying every moment.
What did you think of the trailer?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryan spoke more about finally bringing this version of Deadpool to the big screen:
Reynolds is fulfilling a decade-long dream by finally playing Deadpool on the big screen, on his own terms. The actor appeared as a sanitized version of the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Discussing the Deadpool movie with EW in June, Reynolds said, “I was driving around New York recently and I saw three or four different people wearing Deadpool paraphernalia. And I just thought that was crazy considering that this is a character that’s never had a feature film and yet still is in the zeitgeist in that way. It was just that flash of red, and my eyes went to it. I know it’s a risk, but I trust that audiences will see that red and want to snatch it up. I mean, who doesn’t love a morally flexible red-suited freak show?”
