We got a little taste of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 last month (“Join the Revolution“), but because a teaser is never enough, earlier today Lionsgate shared an official, full length trailer “We March Together”! Check it out and we’ll reconvene below to chat and flail:
EPIC conclusion, indeed!
I hate to be a downer, but this really is the beginning of the end of an era, and this new trailer doesn’t hide it. President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) comment that we should “make no mistake, the game is coming to its end,” is so relevant within AND outside the story. The images of the districts assembling and planning their invasion of the Capitol, with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) at the helm, are exciting and also chilling. These characters have already lost so much, and the trailer makes it quite clear that there will be more sacrifices before everything is said and done… *SHIVERS* But still, we march on!
What did you think of the trailer?
During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Mockingjay Part 2 promo really kicked into high gear. We got an amazing message/propo from Katniss herself, urging us to UNITE with fellow rebels and stand with the Mockingjay because “freedom is worth fighting for”:
I love these images of Katniss/Jennifer Lawrence! She looks so fierce and commanding…I’d definitely join up with her cause.
Lionsgate also released the first set of character posters which show Katniss, Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Prim (Willow Shields), Finnick (Sam Claflin), Johanna (Jena Malone), Cressida (Natalie Dormer), and Boggs (Mahershala Ali) wearing their Mockingjay warpaint and ready to do battle as the “Faces of the Revolution“:

With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow [Donald Sutherland] in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale [Liam Hemsworth], Finnick [Sam Claflin] and Peeta [Josh Hutcherson] – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
