Ghost and Angela finally take their trip to Miami; meanwhile, in New York, Tommy starts to incorporate Kanan into the crew. Get a sneak peek of tonight’s Power “Like We’re Any Other Couple”, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ.
Fresh off the announcement that Power was renewed for a third season, another edge of your seat episode came to the fans in form of Season 2, Episode 2 “No Friends on the Street” directed by Stefan Schwartz and written by Gary Lennon.
Lobos (Enrique Murciano) shipment is in and James/Jamie/Ghost (Omari Hardwick), Tommy (Joseph Sikora), and Julio (J.R. Ramirez) desperately need new distributors to move the massive amount of product. Their new connection with Ruiz (Luis Antonio Ramos) isn’t going to be sufficient, so Ghost and Tommy head out to Newark to try to establish ties with the Haitians, but Drifty (Jamie Hector) wants a cut of the profits they can’t afford. Tommy attempts to make inroads with the Serbs and tries to convince Vladmir (William Popp) to leave his distributor, however that is a no go. The only solution to help alleviate the issues with the amount of product they need to get rid, is convince Ruiz to repair his relationship with the RSK crew and make amends with QDubs (Marc John Jefferies). Ruiz was not ready to set aside his hatred over RSK trying to kill him, but Tommy reminded him that he was owed a favor since he killed Nomar (Vinicius Machado).
If getting rid of the weight wasn’t a big enough problem, Ghost is making every effort to find the woman who tried to kill him and see who actually put the hit out. With Julio’s assistance they were able to track her down to Miami, which is perfect because Stern (Victor Garber), now the landlord to the building that TRUTH is located is sending James there to get another club turned over to him. James isn’t happy about being Stern’s “errand boy”, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that he can make the 20% profit for TRUTH and get from under Stern’s thumb. If Stern buying the building wasn’t bad enough for James, he has now made Kantos (Adam Huss) the new general manager and James must report to him. Stern wants what James has made with TRUTH and James will fight him every step of the way. Plus, this new trip to Miami gives James the ability to have some alone time with Angela now that he believes she isn’t investigating Tommy.
Tommy has his own set of problems with Holly (Lucy Walters) since she isn’t buying this story that everyone is trying to sell her about being shot. Tommy, Ghost, and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) all sold the same bill of goods to Holly that a woman disgruntled over not being allowed into TRUTH’s VIP room shot up the place, and sadly Holly was the causality. Holly could smell the lies and in the end convinced Tommy to tell her what he believed was the truth.
Since deception is a central theme on Power, “No Friends on the Street” seemed to be true when Kanan (Curtis ‘50 Cent‘ Jackson) finally made his presence known to his “friends” Tommy, Ghost, and Tasha. Kanan had his son Shawn (Sinqua Walls) take him by the St. Patrick home and spun the tale that he was just released from prison a year early from his 11 year sentence for good behavior. Ghost isn’t buying this story, but Tommy is and is ready to bring Kanan into the business. Neither knows that Kanan was responsible for the hit on Ghost, nor that he is making a move to take over their business once he can successfully determine who their distributor is.
Angela (Lela Loren) is in la-la love land when it comes to her relationship with Jamie and isn’t aware that he knows she is a federal attorney. She continues on with her private investigation into Lobos and was able to convince Isabel (Yainis Ynoa) that she wasn’t after her father Ruiz for the murder of Nomar, just his killer. Using Isabel’s information she was able to complete the sketch based on Nomar’s information and find out that Tommy Egan was a possible match. After hacking into Greg’s (Andy Bean) account and listening to Nomar’s recordings she knows that Tommy killed Nomar, but she also believes he’s “Ghost.” However, Jamie’s long-time connection with Tommy makes her want to push her feelings aside for her childhood love, and only when she receives confirmation from the Department of Justice that Jamie doesn’t have a criminal past is she able to accept his invitation to Miami and meet him on plane for their secret getaway.
In tonight’s episode “Like We’re Any Other Couple”, written by Randy Huggins and directed by David Knoller:
Ghost finally takes Angela to Miami. They live in the fantasy of being a couple, but the reality of Angela’s investigation destroys it. Back in New York without Ghost, Tommy and Kanan become close, with disastrous results. (via STARZ)
In three sneak peeks from the upcoming episode, we get glimpses of Tommy starting to incorporate Kanan into the crew, while in Miami, Ghost and Angela try to enjoy themselves. In the first clip, Tommy shows Kanan their money laundering scheme (an idea that Ghost and Tommy picked up from Kanan in the old days). The second video takes us to Miami, where Ghost and Angela have resolved to move to Miami and start their lives over together. And in the last clip, LaKeisha (La La Anthony) opens up to Shawn about her son:
It looks like LaKeisha is a little jealous…maybe more than a little. This makes sense, but does that mean Tasha needs to watch her back? It’ll also be very interesting to see how Ghost reacts when he sees Tommy and Kanan are getting close again. Recall that Ghost doesn’t want to fully bring Kanan into the crew yet.
Check out these 15+ stills from “Like We’re Any Other Couple”—Ghost and Angela do look to be having a lot of fun together…and interestingly, so are Tommy and Ghost!
