PHOTOS: First Look at Lionsgate’s ‘Sicario’, Debuting at Cannes This Month

May 13, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Lionsgate gives us a first look at Sicario starring Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro, debuting at Cannes this month and releasing nationwide in September 2015.

The 2015 Cannes Film Festival kicks off TODAY, and one of the main contenders for high honors is Lionsgate’s Sicario (in conjunction with Black Label Media and Thunder Road), which will be making it’s debut later this month.

Sicario follows FBI agent Kate (Emily Blunt) and her conflicting journey that descends into the intrigue, corruption, and moral mayhem of the borderland drug wars. This powerful film was directed by Denis Villeneuve and features a kick-ass cast including Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Victor Garber, and Jon Bernthal.

Sicario will be released in select theaters on September 18 and then nationwide on September 25, 2015, but thanks to Lionsgate, we have a teaser poster and photo stills to share! Check them out below:

SYNOPSIS:
In Mexico, SICARIO means hitman.
In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent (Emily Blunt) is enlisted by an elite government task force official (Josh Brolin) to aid in the escalating war against drugs.
Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past (Benicio Del Toro), the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.

Hmmm, I wonder how Agent Kate got that black eye…
