VIDEO: Preview Tonight’s ‘The Originals’ Season 2, Episode 21 “Fire with Fire”

May 4, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Now that Klaus is free and working with Dahlia, no one is safe…not even Hayley. Get a sneak peek of tonight’s The Originals “Fire with Fire”, airing at 8:00pm ET|PT on The CW.

In last week’s The Originals we saw that Dahlia (Claudia Black) was able to strike a deal with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) that would pit him against remainder of family.

“City Beneath the Sea” began with Dahlia accessing Klaus’ consciousness, even though he was still daggered, and bringing him into her memories. She showed Klaus how she spent her youth with Esther (Hayley McCarthy)—being captured by the Vikings and making whatever bargains to protect her younger sister. But Dahlia (Kristin Erickson) did it because they’d promised to be together “always and forever”. Of course Esther broke that promise by swearing off the practice of magic and eventually marrying Mikael (one of their Viking enemies).

Dahlia also showed Klaus a memory of her with Freya (Riley Voelkel). The firstborn of witches in their bloodline possessed devastating power. Without Dahlia’s guidance, Freya would have suffered. And Hope’s power, tainted with vampirism and werewolf aggression, would pose an even bigger threat. Dahlia promised that she would help Hope and allow Klaus to remain in her life as her father. She then sent him back to his body with the power to un-dagger himself.

Back in the land of the living, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), Hope, and Jackson (Nathan Parsons) escaped to the bayou, and Freya was very upset. They needed Hope to lure Dahlia into a trap so they could kill her. Freya believed there wasn’t another way; however, Elijah was incredibly hesitant. Instead he reached out to Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Cami (Leah Pipes), Davina (Danielle Campbell), and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) for a spell/dark object to create a decoy that would still attract Dahlia to them. But Vincent wanted no part. He wasn’t a witch-for-hire and was done with magic. Cami was able to convince him to help, and they ended up using representational magic to replicate Hope’s magic and transfer it into a vial of Hope’s blood. Elijah then injected it into Freya…she would now be the bait.

But what about Klaus? Cami told them that Klaus hadn’t really killed Aiden, but that wasn’t enough to convince Klaus’ siblings to un-dagger him. Until Hope was safe, Elijah didn’t want to unleash that rage.

Josh (Steven Krueger) was still mourning Aiden and planned to leave town. He had no recourse for revenge because Klaus was already in a coffin. Marcel was able to provide support. Morever, Jackson and Hayley decided to take the time to give Aiden a proper Crescent funeral in the bayou and invited Josh to join them.

After the funeral, Hayley made the final decision to disappear with Hope. Being Klaus’ daughter would always put her in danger. Hope couldn’t be a Mikaelson anymore. She left Elijah and Rebekah a voicemail message, which Klaus overheard. And this pushed him firmly into Dahlia’s camp. If Hayley was an obstacle to being with his daughter, he’d remove her.

In other developments, Davina was still tying to resurrect Kol, but wasn’t making much headway. Then Vincent approached her with an unlikely plan. The Treme Coven wanted him to be their new leader, but as he’d said, Vincent was done with magic. He wanted to nominate Davina to take the position and in exchange, she’d have access to powerful magic…she could bring Kol back.

In tonight’s episode, “Fire with Fire” written by Michael Narducci, directed by David Straiton, and guest-starring Debra Mooney as Mary (Jackson’s Grandmother):

A FAMILY DIVIDED—After discovering that he’s been betrayed by his own siblings, Klaus teams up with an unlikely ally and sets off on a warpath, hell bent on revenge. Amidst the news that Klaus is on the loose, Elijah, Rebekah and Freya move forward with their plan to lure Dahlia to the compound and take her down once and for all. Meanwhile, Hayley and Jackson attempt to escape through the flooded bayou, even as Marcel finds himself hunted by a dangerous new threat. Finally, Davina is presented with an offer that could allow her the chance to bring back Kol, though it will require her to make a life-altering decision. (via The CW)

Julie Plec and Michael Narducci tell us a bit more about what we can expect in the upcoming show. Dahlia has successfully convinced Klaus to join her, which means no one is safe. He will take on his family, and Hayley in particular is a target for his ire:

MERCY, Klaus is out for blood…I’m legitimately terrified for the other characters! Take a look at these two clips from “Fire with Fire”. In the first, Dahlia isn’t happy that Klaus is taking his time putting a plan in place to get Baby Hope. Is he having second thoughts? And in the second video, Vincent is trying to advise Davina about the best way to negotiate becoming the new leader of the Treme Coven:

How far will Davina go for a chance to resurrect Kol? #TheOriginals is new on Monday at 8/7c! https://t.co/DD1eK37DmS
