Is it possible that Dre isn’t black enough?! Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s black-ish “Switch Hitting”, airing at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC.
black-ish returns with a new episode after a one-week hiatus, and tonight’s show is guaranteed to bring on the belly laughs!
The last time we were with the Johnsons (“The Real World“), Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) was determined to impress her old college friends who she recently reunited with on Facebook. Mixed Bow reunited with Asian Maisie (Lindsay Price, claim to fame being on the Real World and dating David Spade), Fat Shawn (Mara Marini, who was no longer), and Black Lance (Jerry Minor) during a dinner party at the house. Bow looked gorgeous in a caftan, prepared a champagne mountain and great spread of food, and Dre (Anthony Anderson) promised to help turn things up. Everyone arrived, and Bow pulled out her big words, Maisie was just as fame-whoreish as expected, Lance was bland, and Shawn was phat (Dre’s words, not mine!). Meanwhile, the kids decided to shoot their own reality show The Real World: Old People Eating Cheese.
However, things didn’t stay congenial for long when Dre found out that Lance and Bow were actually engaged! Even more disconcerting was when Dre learned that Bow was a serial dumpee! Lance broke up her engagement, before that she was dumped by Brian and Mike…(what?!) Dre may have overreacted during a game of “I Never” and Bow’s friends revealed more stories about her relationships and stress-related baldness, leading to a major wardrobe malfunction for Bow. However, she was able to demonstrate her awesomeness by saving Charlie (Deon Cole) from a reaction to his peanut allergy flare-up with a juice straw and steak knife (BOOM!). Later on during a Bow/Dre heart-to-heart, we found out that she went through that many relationships in college because she was so committed to school. It wasn’t until Dre that Bow found someone worth the effort of trying.
*SIDENOTE* I really need know what in the world happened between Diane (Marsai Martin) and Charles! Any clues?
In tonight’s episode “Switch Hitting” written by (show creator) Kenya Barris, directed by Ken Whittingham, and guest starring Michael Rapaport (Prison Break, Justified):
DRE FEARS HE MAY NOT BE “BLACK” ENOUGH TO LAND A BIG URBAN ACCOUNT—When super cool — and white – exec Jay Sloane (guest star Michael Rapaport) challenges Dre over his street cred and picks inept Charlie (guest star Deon Cole) for a big urban market account, Dre finds himself questioning his “blackness.” Pops gets a letter from the IRS and fears the worst. (via ABC)
Take a look at this sneak peek from the upcoming show. In the one-minute clip, Dre shares his frustration about Jay Sloane questioning his blackness with Bow. But, of course, she turns the tables on him because he’s always giving her a hard time about embracing black culture:
Is Dre corny? Say it ain’t so! #blackishABC is all-new tonight! https://t.co/1F5qYtmEiV

I LOVE that Laurence Fishburne is back as Pops…he’s so smooth, so if he says Dre can be corny, I believe him! I don’t know if I’d call Dre a sellout though. Thoughts?
Also, I wonder if we can expect a Pops/Mama Ruby reunion sometime soon…?
Remember to tune into ABC at 9:31pm ET|PT for the new black-ish and join me over on twitter to live tweet as we watch!
