Tonight, Bow reunites with old friends and secrets are revealed! Preview the new black-ish episode “The Real World”, airing at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC.
Last week’s black-ish aired on April Fool’s Day and it was pretty funny to watch the Johnsons play some (not so purposeful) tricks on each other! “Sex, Lies, and Vasectomies” began with Dre (Anthony Anderson) reminiscing on how much he hated surprises…yet a BIG surprise was on the way. Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) was late, but of course she couldn’t be pregnant since Dre had a vasectomy years ago…right? Well, it turned out he chickened out of the procedure, but let Bow continue thinking that it was done. And when Bow revealed that she stopped taking birth control, Dre had a reason to be worried.
Bow eventually learned that she wasn’t pregnant, but while chatting with the doctor who (supposedly) performed Dre’s vasectomy, she finally discovered the truth. So what did Bow do? She planned to make Dre’s life as miserable as possible until he broke down and told the truth—letting him think she was pregnant and threatening to sue the hospital for botching Dre’s procedure.
One of the funniest parts of the episode was watching Dre reach out to his work colleagues for help trying to figure out how to cover up the truth. It seemed to me that he got the best advice from his female co-worker (Laura, Edi Patterson) to just tell Bow the truth…and she was promptly ignored. The misogyny/workplace harassment was a bit uncomfortable…of course Laura called Gloria Allred in the end, which was perfect.
It was also hiiiiiiilarious to see the different reactions from the kids when they thought a baby was on the way. Zoey (Yara Shahidi) was concerned about having to take care of another sibling; the twins (Miles Brown, Marsai Martin) were jealous and reverted to their baby selves (piggy-back rides, baths, and bedtime stories for the win!); and Junior (Marcus Scribner) was thrilled at the idea of having another brother/sister to think of him as a hero.
Fave moments—Junior singing to the “baby” and Bow thinking he was experimenting with drugs; pregnancy-test loving rats; Dre admitting the truth and possibly moving on with the Chipotle girl if Bow chokes to death on a grape. Also, Bow/Dre’s heart-to-heart in the end about being honest with each other and recognizing that their plans will change was really sweet 🙂
In tonight’s episode, “The Real World,” written by Scott Weinger, directed by Victor Nelli, and guest-starring Jeff Meacham (Josh), Deon Cole (Charlie), and Allen Maldonado (Curtis):
WITH THE HELP OF SOCIAL MEDIA, BOW RECONNECTS WITH HER COLLEGE FRIENDS—When Bow reconnects with her college friends on Facebook, she invites them over for an elaborate dinner party and tries to impress them. But the night of the party, Dre ends up learning a lot of new information about Bow’s past. Meanwhile, the kids discover that one of Bow’s friends was on “The Real World,” so they decide to shoot their own reality show and document the party. (via ABC)

“Don’t cross Bow when she’s wearing a caftan…” L.O.L. Message received! Bow looks gorgeous, even if she’s on edge. I think we can all sympathize with wanting to impress old friends and show them how fabulous your life is.
With that said, when friends from your past life come around, there’s the risk of having secrets you might not want to be revealed come to light. And from the episode trailer (below), Bow has some explaining to do!
