It looks like a White House wedding is in our near future…maybe! Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s Scandal, “Put A Ring On It,” airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Last week’s Scandal (“It’s Good to be Kink”) kicked off with Abby (Darby Stanchfield) going to Liv (Kerry Washington) for help handing a situation. She’d just found out that a new sexy times/tell-all book was submitted for publication and would expose the kinky fetishes of several high-profile DC power-players. Why was Abby concerned? It turned out that her new boo Leo Bergen (Paul Adelstein) was one of the chapters. Liv quickly took things in hand and went to see Susanne Thomas (guest-star Lena Dunham). Using her quick-talk/intimidation tactics, Liv convinced Susan to withdraw her book proposal and delete the files…or so we thought. Sue showed up at OPA and totally changed the game. She wanted $3million in exchange for not publishing her tell-all. Even more interesting, Sue ripped into Liv, saying she was disappointed that Liv was so weak, afraid, and a prude.
Huck (Guillermo Díaz) was able to break into Sue’s apartment to scan a copy of her book so OPA could figure out the real identities the partners identified in the book. Once they pulled this list together, we found another surprise…David Rosen (Joshua Malina) was chapter 7! Liv was able to get all 17 men together to try and convince them to pool the funds to pay Sue off. Leo was in and might have been able to convince a majority of the others to contribute the $175,000…but David refused to be a party to extortion and advised that the others to leave. What were OPA’s options now? Well, they found out that Sue was fired from her job at the EPA and then black-balled when she refused to sleep with her boss. Liv promised to help Sue take down her old boss and get a new job.
Elsewhere, Huck and David were working together to push forward with the prosecution of B613. Huck was adamant that he get immunity in exchange for his testimony. He just wanted to be with his family without any fear. But with Sue’s book coming out, David’s job was in jeopardy. Therefore, the B613 investigation would either end or, if it continued, Huck would likely end up in jail. With Sue’s situation wrapped up, we thought all was well. But when Huck and Quinn arrived at Sue’s apartment, they found Sue being attacked by one of her “clients”. Huck was able to get the man to drop the knife and leave…but then he slit Sue’s throat. SO SHOCKING. But Huck was sure Sue would talk and he had to protect David and his immunity…
Mellie (Bellamy Young) announced that she was planning to run for Virginia’s recently vacated senatorial seat and was looking for a campaign manager. Unexpectedly, Lizzie North (Portia de Rossi) approached Mellie for the position. She was tired of being beholden to Cyrus and working with Mellie on her senatorial (and eventually presidential) campaign could be her ride back into power.
Finally, Liv was a mess. She barricaded herself in her apartment, but started visiting bars, seemingly to pick up men. After having a panic attack in the bar rest-room we realized that Liv was NOT ok. But by the end of the episode, she’d decided the best form of therapy was some sexy times. While my Fitzlivia-loving heart was crushed, Russell (Brian White), Liv’s choice of companion, was FINE!
But what was even more interesting was that Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Jake (Scott Foley) had set aside their differences to jointly watch over Liv. Jake would have his men do surveillance and then provide Fitz with updates while drinking scotch…not too sure what I think about this alliance.
In tonight’s episode, “Put a Ring on It,” written by Chris Van Dusen, directed by Regina King, and guest-starring Matthew Del Negro (Michael), Kate Burton (Sally Langston), Dan Bucatinsky (James Novak), and Portia de Rossi (Lizzie North):
MICHAEL GETS HIMSELF INTO HOT WATER—When Michael gets himself in a bad situation, the Gladiators launch into damage control and put pressure on Cyrus to move up the wedding. Meanwhile, David takes the first step in executing his plan to take down B613. (via ABC)
Watch this sneak peek from the upcoming show with Liv trying to convince Cyrus that he must marry Michael this week. He’s already pushed the wedding back four times, and in order to remind the world of the fairy tale love story, Cy will have to go big:
I’m SO here for a White House wedding, but I understand Cyrus’ hesitation. Judging from Scandal‘s official twitter account, we’ll likely get some backstory about Cyrus’ first two marriages:
