Get a synopsis and sneak peek of tonight’s Jane The Virgin! “Chapter Sixteen” airs at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW.
Last week’s Jane The Virgin, “Chapter Fifteen” began with little Jane (Jenna Ortega) and then older Jane (Gina Rodriguez) trying to figure out what love felt like…what was the true test?
After finding out the results of the test on the baby (and that all was well), Rafael (Justin Baldoni) wanted to discuss the possibility of moving in together. But Jane was hesitant; she wanted to maintain a certain order of things…dating, falling in love, getting married…even though the baby would come first.
Jane found out from Michael (Brett Dier) that her favorite author Angelique Harper (Kathleen York) was visiting the Marbella to give a talk. Jane was very excited about wanted to see if she could maybe give Angelique the first chapter of her novel to read. (*sidenote* Jane’s love of historical romance makes me love her even more!) At Angelique’s talk, she read a sneak peek from her upcoming novel, which sounded a lot like Jane’s life…and Jane wasn’t fantasizing! It turned out that Rafael had set this up to propose. And it was so, SO sweet and romantic! Jane’s response: “can we talk in private?” YIKES!
But Jane wanted more time to think. Did she know Rafael well enough to spend the rest of their lives together? I mean, she just broke off her engagement to Michael. After getting some advice from Abuela (Ivonne Coll) and a test from one of Alba’s favorite magazines, Jane decided to test Rafael to find out if he’d really support her dreams of being an author. Rafael passed, but he didn’t appreciate being lead on. Ultimately Jane admitted that she wasn’t ready to get married. She loved Rafael, but needed to slow things down.
Things were good between Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil). Professionally, Rogelio was about to start the new telenovela under his nemesis, Esteban (Keller Wortham). But he assured Xo that he was ok with it. Personally, Rogelio and Xo were back to having vigorous sexy times, BUT Xo was possibly pregnant. Xo also tested/tricked her man, and Rogelio failed…he wasn’t at all ready to be a father again. It turned out Xo wasn’t pregnant, but she wanted to take the next step with Rogelio and move in together.
In other developments: Aaron Zazo (Alano Miller) decided to get close to Petra (Yael Grobglas) to learn more about Roman’s last days. She kindly returned their mother’s necklace to Aaron…and he crushed the necklace to find a flash-drive inside; Rafael and Petra decided to team up to run the hotel and shut Lachlan down; I will ALWAYS want to see Rafael’s core 😉 .
In tonight’s episode, “Chapter Sixteen,” written by Josh Reims and Carolina Rivera, directed by Joanna Kerns, and guest-starring Jane Seymour:
ROAD BLOCKS — Jane is feeling distant from Rafael so she focuses on her writing instead, but is stuck with a case of writers block. When Jane runs into Michael he mentions a romance writing workshop, and she thinks she has found the solution. Petra has a solution to finding a musical performer for the Mirabella’s Calle Ocho celebration, but it forces Rafael to ask Rogelio for help. Rogelio is struggling with his new character as a detective, so he gets the brilliant idea to shadow Michael for real cop experience. Meanwhile, Xo has made a decision about her life with Rogelio which causes a rift between her and Alba. (via The CW)
Watch this sneak peek from the upcoming show. In the clip, Rogelio is shadowing Michael while he’s investigating Sin Rostro, but it looks like Rogelio might be over-stepping:
This is going to be so funny! Take a look at these photo stills from “Chapter Sixteen”—don’t Jane and Rafael look so great dancing?! Make sure to tune into The CW at 9:00pm ET|PT for the new Jane the Virgin!
