We are time jumping one year in The Following world on the season 3 premiere airing tonight on FOX at 9/8c.
The Following which airs on FOX has captivated audiences for two seasons. FOX states that for the third season which premieres tonight at 9/8c, “the stakes are higher, and the twists are more shocking than ever. This season of The Following will be the most jaw-dropping yet.”
As season 3 opens it’s now a year later and master manipulator and serial killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), is on death row awaiting execution. Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) has moved on with his life and found a new love interest, Gwen (Zuleikha Robinson). Moving on for Hardy doesn’t mean that old sins are forgotten. Ryan and his team were under fire for their off-the-books investigation that led to capture of Carroll. Thankfully all was worked out and Ryan has been able to return to the FBI full-time, along with his niece Max Hardy (Jessica Stroup) and Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore).
Even though Carroll is locked up, his network of followers appeared to be destroyed, Luke Gray (Sam Underwood) is dead and his twin Mark is nowhere to be found, none of this means that all is well for Hardy times 2 (Ryan and Max) and Weston. A new threat has arisen and will force the Ryan and his team to open old wounds and expose the sins that were thought to be forgotten. This new threat is terrifying and will attempt to destroy them all; collateral damage be damned once again.
In The Following season 3 premiere titled, “New Blood,” we see that even though we know Ryan has moved on from his past due to his newfound happiness with returning to the FBI full-time and with his new love Gwen things will begin to shatter due a series of brutally staged tableaus. What they will come to learn with this new threat is Joe Carroll was just the beginning.
Now let’s get a preview into The Following, “New Blood,” with the below two clips followed by promotional images from the episode that feature characters Ryan Hardy, Gwen, Agent Mendez (Valerie Cruz), and Mike Weston. In the first clip, Agent Mendez briefs the team letting them know that they need to remain vigilant even though Carroll is currently awaiting execution because a new threat could occur. Followed by a clip of Ryan attempting to push away his new lady-love, Gwen.
