VIDEO: Preview Tonight’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 4, Episode 13 “Staring at the End”

February 26, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Will Amelia and Dr. Herman continue to disagree about removing her brain tumor? Preview tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy, “Staring at the End,” airing at 8:00pm ET|PT on ABC.

Last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy (“The Great Pretender“) really centered on plot developments that featured some sort of pretending/deception/secret being uncovered.

The episode began with Bailey (Chandra Wilson) joining her husband, Ben (Jason George), and his brother Kurt (Benjamin Patterson) in spreading their father’s ashes across the camping grounds they used to frequent together as kids. As they were leaving, Kurt fainted, and when they arrived at the hospital, they discovered his internal organs were severely damaged. We eventually found out that Kurt was taking over-the-counter medication to help him transition. While Bailey was immediately supportive of Kurt (or Rosaline, as she preferred), Ben had a more difficult time with the news. It seemed (to me, at least) that he was hurt that his brother/sister would keep a major life decision like this from him, especially since Ben shared everything with Kurt/Rosaline. Unfortunately, Bailey was not able to convince Ben to talk to his sister. But with Jackson’s (Jesse Williams) help, Rosaline would be monitored and given proper medical assistance as she completed her transition.

Elsewhere, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) returned from visiting Derek (Patrick Dempsey)—or so we thought. It turned out that Mer never made it to Washington D.C., though Derek was expecting her. He called Maggie (Kelly McCreary, who was watching the kids) several times, and unfortunately, she felt compelled to lie for Mer. After Maggie confronted her, we found out that Mer got to the airport, but couldn’t convince herself to get on the plane. She didn’t want to argue with Derek or even think about the tension in their relationship…so instead Mer spent the weekend alone in a hotel room, reading, sleeping, drinking, watching TV, and basically recuperating from life. And she loved every moment. In a conversation with Karev, Mer was at an impasse—she didn’t want to leave Derek OR be with him right now.

And finally, while we thought there was potential for Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) to rekindle their relationship, but it looked like she was just using the opportunity to staying in town to hover (but not really hover) around Jackson and April (Sarah Drew) as they recovered from losing their son.

In other developments: Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Dr. Herman (Geena Davis) continued to bond with one another over the lack of romance in their lives and hospital gossip; Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) had their first kiss when she went to visit him and share her romantic feelings.

In tonight’s episode, “Staring at the End,” written by Stacy McKee, directed by Mark Jackson, and guest starring Geena Davis:

The hospital doctors become fascinated with Dr. Herman’s case when Amelia gives a lecture detailing the intricacies of the surgery. Arizona and Herman continue to bond over the amount of cases they are trying to complete before the big surgery. Meanwhile, Bailey brings them a case of a pregnant woman who is close to her heart. Check out these two clips from the upcoming show. In the first, Amelia and Dr. Herman are disagreeing about her brain tumor treatment. Amelia wants to order more radiation to help shrink the tumor for easier removal. However, Herman is tired of the side-effects from the radiation…she refuses to spend the time she has left suffering. And in the second video, Callie is a little jealous of Arizona and Dr. Herman’s friendship:

Can I just comment on how much I love that Maggie is sitting at the lunch table and bantering with the rest of the group! Mer/Maggie sismance is in full effect!

Take a look at photo stills from “Staring at the End,” which show Amelia giving her lecture about the surgery she plans for Dr. Herman as well as Arizona and Herman talking about their upcoming cases. Remember to tune into ABC at 8:00pm ET|PT tonight for the all new Grey’s Anatomy.
