VIDEO: Preview Tonight’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 2, Episode 17 “Awakening”

February 16, 2015 By Funmbi 5 Comments

Will Evil Captain Irving completely take over tonight? Preview tonight’s Sleepy Hollow “Awakening,” airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on FOX.

In last week’s Sleepy Hollow episode “What Lies Beneath,” we made several new friends…some who we actually wish we’d never met! The show began with Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod (Tom Mison) being called to investigate a case of a survey team missing in underground tunnels. In the course of the investigation, they met Pulitzer winning journalist Calvin Riggs (guest star Sharif Atkins), who’s brother was a member of the missing team. Though Ichabod was skeptical, having Calvin around came in pretty handy when they all came face-to-face with this week’s evil supernatural creature, reavers. These reavers were hideous, vicious, hungry for human flesh, but also scared of camera flashes.

In the tunnels, Abbie and Ichabod also found a hidden chamber (the Fenestella), which was built by President Thomas Jefferson (guest star Steven Weber) and inhabited by TJ’s hologram. It turned out Jefferson and the Founding Fathers built the Fenestella in order to house information that would be help Ichabod and his fellow witness (Abbie) in their quest to save the world from apocalypse. The reavers were actually tasked with protecting the Fenestella, and over time, likely evolved supernaturally to survive.

So, what should Ichabod and Abbie do—sacrifice the survey team to protect the massive chamber of information OR destroy the Fenestella/reavers, and save those men? Perhaps shockingly, Team Witness chose to save the surveyors, but at what cost? I guess like Ichabod said, they’ll always have the Internet. *sidenote* I really hope Abbie will be seeing Calvin again…

Elsewhere, Captain Irving (Orlando Jones) confessed to Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) that his soul did belong to Henry and that he was in the midst of a battle to fend off the evil side of himself. Irving then begged Jenny to help protect his family. And at the end of the episode, we saw that Katrina (Katia Winter) might also crossed over to the dark-side and planned to join Henry (John Noble) in beginning their “work”.

In tonight’s episode, “Awakening”: Ichabod and Abbie fight against those who want to re-awaken a powerful witch coven and Jenny learns a disturbing truth about Frank Irving (via FOX)

Take a look at these four clips from the upcoming show. You know how the Sleepy Hollow writers like to bring their own take to U.S. history? Well the cherished Liberty Bell is not exempt!

In the first clip, we see the Liberty Bell is actually a supernatural object that has a demonic effect on local pedestrians. In the second, Abbie and Ichabod go shopping for the ingredients to blow up the Liberty Bell and Crane learns about seasonal items. In the third video, Jenny breaks the news to Ichabod and Abbie that Captain Irving is actually evil and the team comes up with an unconventional, but effect method of keeping Irving from causing more trouble. And last, Jenny, Ichabod, and Abbie go toe-to-toe with evil Irving, who’s trying to stop them from destroying the Liberty Bell.

Tonight’s episode is going to be a fun one…unless Evil Irving actually succeeds in harming Team Witness and/or his family! And what’s Henry really trying to accomplish with the grimoire?

Check out these images from “Awakening” and remember to tune into FOX at 9:00pm ET|PT for the new Sleepy Hollow!
