VIDEO: Sneak Peek into Tonight’s ‘Arrow’ Season 3, Episode 13: “Canaries”

February 11, 2015 By T.J. Leave a Comment

Sara Lance/Canary is back tonight on Arrow, Season 3, Episode 13: “Canaries,” airing on The CW at 8 PM (ET/PT). Get your sneak peek below.

Arrow took me on an emotional roller-coaster ride in Season 3, Episode 12: “Uprising.” Malcolm (John Barrowman) was out for revenge when he spied Team Arrow (Diggle (David Ramsey), Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), Roy/Arsenal (Colton Haynes), and now Laurel aka Black Canary (Katie Cassidy)) figuring out that Danny ‘Brick’ Brickwell (Vinnie Jones) was the actual person who murdered his wife, Rebecca. I’m not a fan of Malcolm, (even though I’m obsessed with John Barrowman) I felt his pain when he realized he murdered the wrong man. And that kill sent him on a downward spiral costing him son and possibly his soul.

In “Uprising” we witnessed how Malcolm Merlyn became the man he is today. We traveled 21 years into his past and saw his hairline grow thanks to an interesting lacefront wig. Malcolm prior to Rebecca’s murder was a devout father and husband, but his desire for revenge upon her death gave him the courage to go into the Glades and instigate a fight with the man he was led to believe killed Rebecca. Malcolm was given a serious beat-down but when the man turned his back to walk away, Malcolm shot him in the back. Malcolm still fueled with rage that he couldn’t protect his family left young Tommy (Arien Boey) to go and train with the League of Assassins, where he is given the nickname “The Magician,” from young (and UBER badass) Nyssa (Taylor Dianne Robinson).

Malcolm could probably take out Brick on his own but he offers to help Team Arrow take the Glades back from Brick and his crew. At first they refuse, but in the end he is there to offer assistance along with the Glades residents. Team Arrow, Malcolm, and the Glades residents are in the fight of their lives when Arrow (Stephen Amell) returns. We can all thank Tatsu (Rila Fukushima) for Ollie being able to dawn the Arrow costume again. Without her assistance Oliver would have probably died on his trek home. I’m truly hoping this is not the last we see of Tatsu. I really want her to make her way to Starling City and be apart of Team Arrow.

Some interesting things happened in Arrow, Season 3, Episode 12: “Uprising.” First, Sin (Bex Taylor-Klaus) let’s it be known to Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) that the woman dawning Sara’s Canary costume is not Sara. I wonder how long it will take for Quentin to realize how his daughter Laurel (Katie Cassidy), along with others have been keep Sara’s murder a secret from him. Next, Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez) donned his vigilante garb to assist in taking back the Glades and was severely injured when he went up against Brick. Laurel was comforting Ted while he was bleeding out on the street and it leads me to think Laurel and Ted will have a romantic connection before Season 3 ends. Oliver is able to convince Malcolm prior to him killing Brick to give him mercy because he is trying to be a better man for his daughter AND Malcolm listens. *clutches pearls* As interesting as Malcolm not finally seeking revenge on his wife’s killer, it’s the fact that Oliver asks Malcolm for training so he can finally kill Ra’s al Ghul. The training of Oliver by Malcolm can only lead to some amazing hand-to-hand combat scenes and I’m beyond ready for it.

However, the saddest part of Episode 13: “Uprising,” was seeing Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) telling Oliver, “I don’t want to be a woman you loved.” when she finds out that he will seek assistance from Malcolm to kill Ra’s al Ghul. My Olicity shipper heart broke into a billion pieces and I may have clutched my pillow and lay in the fetal position to help me heal from this scene, but it didn’t work. No matter how right Felicity was in her feelings I will never forget Oliver’s face when she left.

In Arrow, Season 3, Episode 13, “Canaries,” that was directed by Michael Schultz and written by Jake Coburn and Emilia Ortega Aldrich and guest stars Peter Stormare as Count Vertigo and  Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/Canary:

Vertigo returns and pits Canary against Black Canary — Oliver is thrown by the changes within Team Arrow. He’s used to calling the shots but sees that the team has evolved in his absence and tensions quickly escalate in the lair. Oliver is furious that Laurel has been going out as the Black Canary and tells her to stop risking her life, but when Vertigo hits the streets again, Laurel goes against Oliver’s wishes and tracks down Vertigo who hits her with a full dose of the drug. Laurel’s biggest fears revolve around her sister Sara so the Vertigo causes her to hallucinate an epic fight between Canary and Black Canary. Meanwhile, Chase (Austin Butler) surprises Thea (Willa Holland), and Roy warns Thea to stay away from Malcolm. (via The CW Press Site)

Now let’s get a further sneak peek into Arrow, Season 3, Episode 13: “Canaries,” with an inside look, a clip, and promotional images. First, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim takes us inside the episode and let’s us know that Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/Canary returns, along with Peter Stormare as Count Vertigo. And Mr. Guggenheim also teases a huge plot twist making us wonder with Merlyn joining Team Arrow will Thea Queen learn that her brother Ollie is Arrow. In the clip from “Canaries,” we see that Vertigo escapes during a press conference. The promotional images from the episode feature Sara Lance/Canary, Laurel Lance/Black Canary, Roy/Arsenal, and Oliver/Arrow.
