Apparently Ichabod and Thomas Jefferson had a complicated relationship… Preview tonight’s Sleepy Hollow “What Lies Beneath” with video and photo sneak peeks. The new show airs Monday, February 9 at 9:00pm ET|PT on FOX.
Part of what I love about Sleepy Hollow is the show’s (oftentimes) provocative take on historical figures and events. Last week’s episode “Spellcaster” was no different as we learned more about Katrina’s (Katia Winter) history in the context of Salem, Massachusetts. In fact, we found out that a case of unrequited love and a coverup of blood magic/practice of the dark arts led to the infamous witch trials, of which Katrina’s grandmother was one of the first casualties.
Solomon Kent (Johnathon Schaech), the man in question, had escaped from Purgatory after Moloch’s death and got ahold of a powerful spell book that would allow him to go back in time to change history and be with the woman he loved. Of course, Team Witness couldn’t let this happen. Ichabod (Tom Mison), Abbie (Nicole Beharie), and Katrina faced off with Solomon and his blood-demons. During the exchange, Solomon revealed to Katrina that the reason her magic was so hit-or-miss was because she was not on her true path, that of darkness.
With Captain Irving’s (Orlando Jones) help, Ichabod and Abbie were able to stop Kent. But what was most shocking was that Irving killed Kent (pretty brutally), grabbed the spellbook (which he hid from Ichabod and Abbie). We ultimately discovered that Irving’s soul does belong to Henry (John Noble), who now had the grimoire and planned to use it for some unknown plan.
This entire time I was hoping Frank was truly OK. He seemed truly genuine with his wife and Abbie. So what he didn’t have a reflection, I was willing to overlook that. But then to find out he was actually on Team Henry really, really broke my heart. What in the world do those two have planned? And when will Team Witness find out the truth. Finally, I have never hidden the fact that I’m Team IchAbbie, but that doesn’t mean I want Katrina to turn evil! I’m really concerned about what this might mean…she might even join Henry and Irving in their dark machinations!

In the first video, Tom Mison and Executive Producer Mark Goffman talk about what we can expect, including learning more about Ichabod’s relationship with Thomas Jefferson and meeting a new, frightening species of supernatural creature: the reaver.
