VIDEO: Sneak Peek into Lifetime’s Biopic ‘Whitney’

Get your sneak peek into Lifetime’s Biopic Whitney airing tonight at 8 PM ET|PT.

The Lifetime original movie event Whitney which was directed by Angela Bassett and stars Yaya DaCosta as Whitney Houston and Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown has its world premiere tonight at 8 PM. I’ll admit that I was hesitant about this biopic since Bobbi Kristina, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown‘s daughter was hesitant for this project to be made. However, after watching footage from the film, behind-the-scenes clips, and interviews with Yaya DaCosta and Angela Bassett I’m hopeful that the final project will be truthful and an homage to great Whitney Houston.

Lifetime states, “Whitney chronicles the headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model Whitney Houston and singer and songwriter Bobby Brown from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity to their courtship and tumultuous marriage. Throughout it all, difficulties followed the superstar couple while they dealt with the overwhelming rewards and consequences of the fame and fortune created by Houston’s meteoric rise that would soon overshadow them both.”

It will be interesting to see the reaction to Whitney on the Interwebs and within the news media. Twitter has often been filled with unkind comments for previous Lifetime biopics and I wonder will Whitney be the biopic that changes the tone for future projects or continues the onslaught of creative memes regarding Lifetime’s programming. Tonight during the world premiere of Whitney we will find out.
