Lupita Nyong’o – Glamour Women of the Year 2014

November 6, 2014 By T.J. 5 Comments

Learn more about Glamour Women of the Year 2014 honoree, Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong’o.

On Monday, November 10, 2014, Glamour will host it’s 24th Annual Women of the Year Awards and Lupita Nyong’o “The Breakthrough” will be one of the honorees. Lupita became known to many of us due to her powerful and compelling 2013 Best Supporting Actress Oscar winning performance as Patsey in the 2013 Best Picture Oscar winning film 12 Years a Slave. Even though 12 Years a Slave was her first feature film, this was not her first acting role. Her first film was a short titled, East River and she also starred in Kenyan television soap opera Shuga. The Yale School of Drama graduate also wrote, produced, and directed an award winning documentary film about albinism titled, In My Genes, the trailer for the film can be seen here.

Lupita Nyong’o essentially swept the 2013 award season due to her critically acclaimed performance as Patsey, but many of us fell in love with her beauty, wit, and charm in every interview she did during this time. She captivated many with her gorgeous fashion choices and spectacular red carpet looks. Lupita is more than an actress, she is a force to be reckoned with and I am glad to see that she will not only be among the ranks of Chelsea Clinton, Sylvia Earle, Robin Roberts, Samantha Power, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Burton, Laverne Cox, and Natalia Vodianova, the other 2014 Glamour Women of the Year recipients, but she will grace the corresponding Glamour cover issue.

We’re proud to announce @Lupita_Nyongo is our Women of the Year cover star! #GlamourWOTY http://t.co/46WaDwxdf8 pic.twitter.com/ZyoK0mKFgN
